Drunk by Mad Men everywhere, it was popularized at famous bars like the Pendennis Club in Louisville Kentucky and the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York. Inspired by the Sazerac but mostly served with bourbon, Courvoisier VSOP Exclusif cognac has refashioned this classic serve.
• 2 parts Courvoisier VSOP Exclusif cognac
• 1 Demerara sugar cube
• 1 orange zest
• 3 dashes Angostura® bitters
Soak the sugar in the bitters and add to a rocks glass with the snapped orange zest. Add the Courvoisier Exclusif and a cube of ice. Stir slowly until the ice is almost melted, then add another touch of Courvoisier and ice cube repeating the process until the sugar is fully dissolved and all ingredients are well mixed. Fill the glass with fresh ice and serve.
