The origins of the Vieux Carré come from New Orleans. The cognac drink was invented in 1937 as a tribute to the diverse ethnic groups that made up the French Quarter at the time.
HOW TO MAKE A VIEUX CARRé COCKTAIL
Ingredients
- 1 part VSOP
- 1 part rye whiskey
- Bénédictine® Liqueur
- ¾ part rouge vermouth
- 2 dashes Angostura® Bitters
- 2 dashes Peychaud’s® Bitters
Recipe
- Add all ingredients to a mixing glass
- Add ice and stir until chilled
- Strain over ice into a Double Old Fashioned glass
- Garnish with a lemon peel
